Serving as an outdoor museum and research center, Horne Creek Living Historical Farm is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the state’s turn-of-the-20th-century agricultural and rural heritage. Its seasonal educational programs teach visitors through hands-on workshops and demonstrations, ranging from the technique behind using a scythe to cut grass to exploring the varieties of apples in the orchard. Approximately 10 miles south of Pilot Mountain, the farm also has a short walking trail, picnic area, cemetery and visitor center with a small gift shop.
Open Tue. - Sat. 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Closed Sun. - Mon. Tours available by reservation, call for details.
